Hello! I'm Johanna.
Welcome to my little corner where I hope to share my journey of bringing old-fashioned charm into the ordinary, everyday moments of life. Since I was a little girl, a love and fascination for history has been a part of my heart-- I remember being intrigued by the odd antique trinkets that dappled my grandfather's house, and the 100-year old heirlooms that he cherished-- I could listen for hours to the stories of my grandmother's childhood and life in the olden days. I enjoyed spending my time reading history books, and rifling through sepia-toned photographs, to get a glimpse of eras I would never be able to experience first-hand, but also to study the bygone fashions and swoon over the beautiful dresses. As a young girl my favorite movies were black-and-white films of the 1930s and 40s-- and it was out of these glimmers of history that a love for fashion grew.

My mother taught me how to hand sew when I was six, and I took on various seamstress projects for very prestigious clients-- my dolls. Then my grandmother taught me the ins-and-outs of the sewing machine when I was a young teenager. Now, I am about to graduate college with my Bachelors in Fashion Design and Merchandising. I'm not quite sure where it will take me, but my dream is to open a company of my own selling vintage inspired/reproduction clothing, and perhaps venture into vintage bridal wear.

Creativity and artistry-- the joy of fabricating something out of my imagination-- has always played a massive role not merely as a seamstress and designer, but also as a painter and artist. I began drawing when I was younger as a way to put my fashion designs on paper, but fell in love with that art-form itself. I've dappled in many different styles and mediums over the years-- I like to do whimsical illustrations of woodland creatures, to the realism of nature sketches, and hopefully I'll share a bit of my artistic pursuits here as well.

My desire is to inspire others to embrace a life of creativity. I know that seeing the beautiful creations and talent of other bloggers has inspired me in countless ways and has enriched my life-- I hope I could do the same, however small it may be.
